Tuition-Based Preschool (TBPS)
(Must be 3 by September 1, 2020) - Not currently in session. Students are being placed on a waitlist.
Tuition-Based Preschool offers full day and half day options to 3- and 4-year-old children. This classroom environment provides learning opportunities through small group and whole group instruction, as well as choice time. The Creative Curriculum is used to guide instruction, along with planning and assessments set forth by the Michigan Department of Education. This program offers students their first preschool experience and allows them to build on the skills necessary to begin kindergarten. Our classrooms run Monday through Friday, with a full day option (9:00am – 3:30pm) and a half day option of morning (9:00am – 12:00pm) or afternoon (12:30pm – 3:30pm). This program gives parents the flexibility to choose the days and time that works best for them (two days minimum).
Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP)
(Must be 4 by September 1, 2020, with a waiver provision for children born between September 1 and December 1, 2020)
The GSRP is a free, state-funded preschool program for qualifying families. Children must be 4 years old and families must qualify based on the Income Eligibility Guidelines. (These guidelines have been amended for the 2020-2021 School Year - all 4 year-olds are eligible.) An original birth certificate of the child and proof of household income are requirements of the application process. We currently have five GSRP classrooms at the Early Childhood Center, four of which are School Day and one that is a Half Day program. (Due to COVID, students for the Half Day program are being placed on a waitlist at this time.) Our GSRP provides children the opportunity to build a solid foundation for learning. Classroom instruction utilizes The Creative Curriculum, a research-based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning. Through “studies” based on student interest and student-led inquiry, children have a say and are engaged in their learning.
Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
ECSE and Transition ECSE are offered at the Early Childhood Center for children who qualify. Please contact our Special Education Services at 586-510-2050.
Head Start
Head Start is a free, federally-funded preschool for children ages 3-4 years old. Eligibility is based on strict income guidelines as well as other factors. This is a county program. Please call (586) 469-5215 to schedule an appointment.
We also offer before and aftercare in conjunction with most of our programs. (Not currently offered due to COVID.)
