Tuition-Based Preschool (TBPS)
(Must be 3 by September 1, 2019)
Tuition-Based Preschool offers full day and half day options to 3- and 4-year-old children. This classroom environment provides learning opportunities through small group and whole group instruction, as well as choice time. We teach using The Creative Curriculum, along with planning and assessments guided by the Michigan Department of Education. Our classrooms run Monday through Friday, with a full day option (9:00am – 3:30pm) and a half day option of morning (9:00am – 12:00pm) or afternoon (12:30pm – 3:30pm). This program gives parents the flexibility to choose the days and time that works best for them (two days minimum).
We also offer before and aftercare in conjunction with our programs.
Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP)
(Must be 4 by September 1, 2019, with a waiver provision for children born between September 1 and December 1, 2019)
The GSRP is a free, state-funded preschool program for qualifying families. Children must be 4 years old and families must qualify based on the Income Eligibility Guidelines. An original birth certificate of the child and proof of household income are requirements of the application process. We currently have four GSRP classrooms at the Early Childhood Center, three of which are School Day and one that is a Half Day program. Our GSRP provides children the opportunity to build a solid foundation for learning. Classroom instruction utilizes The Creative Curriculum, a research-based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning. Through “studies” based on student interest and student-led inquiry, children have a say and are engaged in their learning.
Head Start is a free, federally-funded preschool for 3-4 year old children. Eligibility is based on strict income guidelines as well as other factors. Interviews will be scheduled for those who qualify. Please call (586) 469-5215 to schedule an appointment.
